Nars Climax Mascara in Explicit Black
What is it supposed to do?
Give super volume! It is also supposed to be smudge-resistant, flake-resistant, and clump-resistant.
This mascara is a hyped launch for Nars. It is supposed to be a fantastic mascara that gives a ton of volume without clumping.
This retails for $24 on Nars.com.
You all know I love a wand like this. I love these soft, flexible bristles… and A LOT of them! I was so excited to see that Nars designed the wand this way. I knew I was going to get max volume, because I honestly think volume has a lot to do with the wand more than the formula…
Application and Formula
I was slightly surprised how this mascara applied. I was expecting more.
It didn’t clump, but I had to work with it to get the depth and volume I wanted. It wasn’t bad, but I had Ito build it up. The brush was fantastic and didn’t give me trouble at all.
First impressions were pretty good. My lashes were long, voluminous and black.
After working with it for a bit, I noticed that the formula reminded me of the Milk Makeup Kush mascara that I loved when I first applied. Unfortunately, this didn’t wear well and flaked everywhere.
Real Life Wear
Oh, this pains me to say this… it didn’t do well. It was terrible. It got everywhere and the length turned into stubbles. Flakes were all over my face. It was not good. There isn’t much else to say other than it was so good at first, but it didn’t last.
1/5. I gave it a 1 for the wand. I love the wand, but I returned the mascara. It just didn’t work for me. I really wish it did because the packaging is nice and heavy, the wand is really good, but the formula and wear just were not there. If you are on the fence, I wouldn’t recommend.
I hope this is a helpful review. I was so excited for this launch and super sad it didn’t work for me.
Wishing you all the bright fireflies,
