Hope you all are having a wonderful week. I am so excited about this week because we are closing on our house! We have been waiting for a while now for our house to be built, so it will be such a blessing (and relief) to close!!
Today I wanted to just sit down and talk to y’all about me and why I started my blog. It’s been over 6 months and I finally feel as though I have a vision, a “somewhat” true understanding of what I am doing. It is a lot to learn, but it is SO much fun!
OK. Where to start?
Why I Started
1. For fun!
I started my blog because I thought it would be fun. Was I super nervous? Um, YES, of course! I’ve learned a lot along the way, posted some really terrible pictures, and realize that a good post is better than no post (um, ah hem, perfectionist over here). It’s fun and that’s why I love what I do.
2. For me!
Writing about beauty, skincare, makeup, and lifestyle was easy for me. I’ve always loved anything beauty related and I really have a joy for soaking up all the knowledge I can about products and their effectiveness.
If you didn’t know, I have two children and a husband. I love them so much, but like most Mothers and Wives, we seems to give a lot. That’s so good, but for me, it is also good to have “me time.” This is what this is for me. Yes, I exercise (well, try to anyways) and also do others things, but this is truly an outlet for me, a hobby. I wish I could do it all the time!
What I’ve Learned
1. It’s a lot of work
Wow. Let’s just start by saying, blogging is so much fun, but it is a LOT of work! It takes planning, time, and a lot of passion. Is it more work than I thought? Not really. I knew that it was going to take time to learn, and I would learn along the way. I am still learning as we go, but I love the platform I am building and the people I connect with on a daily basis!
2. I’ve met so many people!
Speaking of people…I never thought I would actually meet people I talk to on a daily basis about makeup and skincare. When I say this, I mean actual, real-life, true, down -to-earth friends. I honestly thought I was the only one who loved this stuff. It truly is a community of people who share the same passion. Everyone has been super friendly and very helpful with questions and recommendations! It was definitely a pleasant surprise!
3. I do what I can
If it were up to me, I would post everyday on my blog. I usually try to post every day on Instagram, but I want to post all the time on my blog too. It will come. My expectations are high for my blog and I want it to be the best that it can be. With that being said, however, I work full-time, have a husband, and two children who also need my attention, so balance is where it is at for me. I want to do it all, but I also have to do what I can. This means that sometimes I have to say “No” or “Not right now.”
If anyone knows me personally, this is SO hard for me to do. I’m trying to be better about knowing that it is ok to say “No.”
Let me know if you like this post and I hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday!
Wishing you all the bright fireflies!
