Skincare is a passion of mine. I’m in my 30s and I can already tell those little fine lines are popping up. I don’t know if it is my age or my two young ones that I’ve lost probably years of sleep with. Don’t get me wrong at all, I wouldn’t change it for the world, but it is the reality of the situation. I don’t sleep as much as I did in my past.
As I’ve gotten older, I have found that it is important to, of course, sleep, drink more water, eat healthy, and exercise. It’s the basics, I know, but I have also found that adding a simple skincare routine can really make a difference. The feeling of a clean face just makes you feel refreshed and ready for the day. A good moisturizer at night can make your skin feel plump and revitalized in the morning. It’s the small steps that can make you feel your best self.
Investing in good skincare can be expensive. How do you know if it is going to work and not make your face turn the color of a beet or itch so bad you can’t stand it?! How do you pick the right products that you know will work for your skin and provide the best results possible? These are very valid questions.
Here are a few tips for finding your best skincare routine:
1. Find out your skin type. Do you get oily often, or does your skin feel like dry sandpaper? Are you a little in-between? Try to find out what your skin type is so that you can search for the best products that are tailored to your skin concerns and needs. Feel free to read up more on different skin types here!
2. Research, Research, Research. What do you want the product to do? Do you want to cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, reduce pore size and more? There are certain ingredients that are focused on the specific areas/concerns you have for your skin. Look them up and see what will work best for you.
3. Try before you buy! Many stores such as Sephora and Nordstrom allow you to sample various products so that you can take them home and see how they work for you. Do not be afraid to ask for a sample. No one wants to waste money on something that won’t work.
4. Invest in a sample pack like the one by Sephora in the picture above. I ordered this because I thought it was a great deal – I mean, you can’t pass up $135 value for only $44! Plus, I am able to try some great brands that I haven’t been able to try or are pretty pricey. I want to make sure they work for me before I dive in and invest in a full-size product. This is a great way to try out different types of products so that you can find the ones that work for you.
And, most of all, have fun! Enjoy the process. :). I can’t wait to find out what works for you!
Wishing you all the bright fireflies,
